Drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the 1988 NFL Draft, he played college football at Northern Arizona after attending Eastern Arizona College. Haynes played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1988 to 1993 and again in 1997, as well as for the New Orleans Saints. In 1991, he led the NFL in yards per reception with an impressive 22.4.
